nternational registration of design in Montenegro is made in accordance with the provisions of the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Deposit of Industrial Designs from January 28, 1960 and the supplementary Stockholm Act, from July 14, 1967. International industrial design registration system provides for the industrial design to be protected in several countries through one application to the International Bureau of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), made in one language, with payment of one fee. International protection of design lasts 5 years from the date of international registration and can be renewed for the forthcoming 5 year period.
The Hague system for international registration of industrial design is in effect in the member states of the Hague Agreement.
Montenegro is a member of the Hague Agreement from June 3, 2006, and therefore persons who are citizens of Montenegro and legal entities with residence in Montenegro can file application for international registration of design to the International Bureau of the WIPO through Intellectual Property Office of Montenegro, provided that they had previously filed the application for protection of industrial design in the country as per relevant regulations.
